What do you reckon about John Howard's idea that young Australians should use their school 'gap year' to enlist in the defence force? Would you enjoy a year in uniform...... or feel you were fulfilling your 'patriotic duty'.....??

Wow gives real meaning to John Coward doesn't it?! Who in their right mind would give their free year to a Government that spends it's money on defence and war instead of what is really needed like hospitals and education resources! What you've proposed for these areas isn't nearly enough!
This is America's war Howard, not ours! Stop getting us involved. You're running our tax payers money down the drain! Give us a job oppurtunity when we leave school not a Death Sentence!! We're the new gereration mate you're still decades behind, Give us the room and means to spread our wings and we'll fly!

i think thats so f*cked because its like a trap. If you do your one year then 5 years down the track the defence force can call you back to go to war.
